First reported by Tampa sports reporter Jenna Laine that Johnson is headed to the Cincinnati Bengals. The two-year deal would be finalized on Friday.

Johnson will play under Jay Gruden, whose brother Jon Gruden drafted Johnson in Tampa Bay in 2008. He fills the spot left by another former Buc, Bruce Gradkowski, who signed with Pittsburgh. Once on board, Johnson will join Zac Robinson as the only two quarterbacks other than starter Andy Dalton on the roster. ... Johnson played for the Bucs from 2008 to 2011. In December, the Cleveland Browns announced they had signed Johnson after injuries to Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy.
