Fred Jackson Expects To Be Ready For Start Of OTAs
(3/23 12:0 PT)

The Facts:
Jackson missed the last three games of the 2012 season with a partially torn ligament in his knee. But he said this week he expects to be ready to work out, when Bills veterans return for offseason conditioning in two weeks. “I’m on track ready to go. I’m trying to hit the ground running and do as much as I can. I’ve been cleared by all the doctors so I’m ready to get back into it, and get back on the field and prove to these coaches that I need to be on the field.”  Reported by BuffaloBills.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The question is what the veteran's role will be. Jackson, who turns 32, battled leg injuries again and finally went on IR. He averaged 3.8 yards a carry and became fumble-prone. C.J. Spiller, meanwhile, is coming off a breakout season despite limited use by former coach Chan Gailey. Spiller carried the ball just 207 times (12.9 per game) but still gained 1,244 yards for a 6.0 average that tied Adrian Peterson for best in the NFL. He also added 43 catches for 459 yards, giving him 1,703 scrimmage yards, good for sixth overall in the league. He's a player new coach Doug Marrone will build his offense around until he settles on a QB. That means Jackson will fall back to a complementary role.
