The Facts:
It will take time for fans to forget about Wes Welker and fully embrace Amendola. The shrewd move will not soon be forgotten, but some talent evaluators believe that the Patriots will be a better team with Amendola inserted in the slot next season. "All I can say is that Amendola, barring durability issues, should be an upgrade," an NFC scout recently told MassLive.com.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As MassLive.com's Nick Underhill stressed, that remains the catch with Amendola. Fair or not, a pair of serious injuries limited him to 12 games over the last two seasons and has caused the word "if" to become a permanent fixture on his name. But if Amendola stays healthy, the scout believes that he will be able to replicate all the things Welker was known for, plus bring a few new wrinkles that were previously absent from the New England offense. "He does all the things the other guy was doing, but he's younger right now -- suddenness, route savvy, a feel for leveraging defenders and finding openings," the scout told Underhill. Now all he has to do is erase the "if" with a 16-game season.
