In a text message to Trey Wingo that the ESPN anchor published on Twitter, Griffin gave an update on how he’s coming along after suffering knee ligament injuries in Washington’s playoff loss to Seattle in January. “My knee is getting better every day,” Griffin wrote. “The doctors say I’m ahead of schedule. My goal is to return healthy in week one but if I’m not ready then i will wait until i am, however long that is.”

Griffin also noted that he’s cognizant of “my responsibility is within the dilemma that led to me having surgery to repair my knee and all parties involved know their responsibilities as well. ...” In case you missed it, surgeon Dr. James Andrews weighed in last week, suggesting Griffin's recovery was "superhuman. ..." As encouraging the positive early reporting is, the key word here is "early." We'll continue to dutifully follow up while reminding you one more time that nobody should get too excited about any reporting at this point.
