Cardinals Interested In Carson Palmer... But Only If The Price Is Right
(3/30 4:16 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... According to sources, the Cardinals will make a deal for Palmer only if it doesn’t cost them much: Late-round draft picks, possibly conditional on how, or if, Palmer plays. Reported by the Arizona Republic

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Remember: Acquiring Palmer, 33, from the Raiders won’t be simple. The Raiders first have to consummate a trade with the Seahawks for quarterback Matt Flynn, and that requires Flynn re-working his contract. if that deal is reached, then the Raiders presumably would try to trade Palmer before releasing him. But as Republic staffer Kent Somers explained, that deal is more complicated that just agreeing with another team on Palmer’s worth. Palmer is due to make $13 million in salary this season and reportedly balked when the Raiders asked him to take a pay cut. Any team trading for Palmer, including the Cardinals, will want him to take far less money, too. Somers added that Palmer could refuse and a proposed trade would be off forcing the Raiders to release him and allowing Palmer the freedom to pick his next employer. It also might behoove the Cardinals to wait until the Raiders release Palmer. Then they would have the opportunity to acquire him without trading draft picks. Either way, the Cardinals aren't going to give up anything of significance – high draft picks, lots of money – to get him.
