The Associated Press and USA Today are reporting the same.... As Profootballtalk.com's Michael David Smith notes, the 49ers have 14 picks in this year’s draft, so
giving up a late-round pick isn’t a bad move for them. And they now have their backup to Colin Kaepernick after trading Alex Smith to the Chiefs. Smith went on to suggest that for the Browns, even if all they get is a seventh-round pick, it’s not a bad deal considering that most people thought they’d end up having to cut McCoy and get nothing back for him. With Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell expected to compete for the starting job, McCoy was the odd man out in Cleveland. Now McCoy will go to a place where he has no chance of winning the starting job, but has a good chance of making the roster as the No. 2 quarterback. Smith summed up: "That’s a better position than he had with the Browns."
