The Facts:
Though negotiations aimed at keeping the former starting quarterback off the free-agent market are ongoing, Bucs general manager Bruce Allen said Tuesday there's a chance Griese will hit the market anyway. "It might turn out that [Griese] will want to be a free agent for a few days or so and maybe still come back to the Bucs," Allen said.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Griese's agent, Ralph Cindrich, has said repeatedly that failure to extend the CBA would likely result in the release of Griese, whose 2006 contract is slated to count $7.08 million against the cap. However, if the owners and players can agree on a new deal, the 2006 salary cap could increase by as much as $10 million. That may allow the Bucs to keep Griese.
