Andre Brown Setting Some Lofty Goals This Season
(4/17 12:4 PT)

The Facts:
Brown is coming off a career year. The Giants running back is aiming even higher in 2013. “I have to outdo last year’s stats," Brown said. "Eight touchdowns – I want 22. I want 1,300 (yards) this year. That’s the stepping stone. I have to erase last year’s stats and show I can do better.”  Reported by the Newark Star-Ledger

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Brown, who had famously been cut eight times by five NFL teams before finding his way back to the Giants, rushed for 385 yards and a team-high eight touchdowns last season before breaking his leg. Clearly, he expects more this fall. “This is my year,” Brown said in an interview with Giants.com, the team's official website. “I have to go out there, and I have to produce. I feel like this is a very important season and I have to go out there and show the world what Andre Brown is made of. ..." As Star-Ledger staffer Jenny Vrentas points out, only six players in the NFL topped 1,300 rushing yards last season -- Adrian Peterson, Alfred Morris, Marshawn Lynch, Jamaal Charles, Doug Martin and Arian Foster -- and the league-high for rushing touchdowns was 15, scored by Foster. ... Meanwhile, Brown, who is fully healed from the fibula break that caused him to miss the Giants' final five games last season will help David Wilson, last year's first-round pick, carry the rushing load with Ahmad Bradshaw no longer in the mix.
