The Facts:
The Packers waived Saine Wednesday morning, according to his agent Joe Flanagan. Coming off of a torn anterior cruciate ligament, Saine did not pass his physical with the team.

According to Journal Sentinel staffer Tyler Dunne, it was going to be an uphill battle for Saine in 2013. At the position, the Packers return DuJuan Harris, Alex Green and James Starks, three backs who all played well in spurts last year. Unrestricted free agent Cedric Benson, who began 2012 as the No. 1 back, visited with Green Bay Wednesday. If his recovery from a Lisfranc injury suffered Oct. 7 at Indianapolis checked out with the Packers -- and a video posted by Benson working out in Texas was encouraging -- maybe the veteran returns. And there's also a good chance general manager Ted Thompson drafts a running back. This year's class has options early and late. ... Stay tuned.
