Lions Sign Shawn Bryson To New Deal
(3/10 6:49 PT)

The Facts:
One of the NFL's most effective third-down tailbacks, and likely to get more overall "touches" in the Mike Martz-designed offense, Bryson reached agreement on a new three-year contract worth $4.5 million. The deal includes a $1.5 million signing bonus.  Reported by ESPN.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
While his role is unlikely to change in 2006, his playing time could actually be expanded. According to ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli, Bryson decided against testing the free-agent market after new coach Rod Marinelli convinced him he will play a key role in 2006 as Martz attempts to correct the problems of a unit that statistically ranked No. 20 in 2005.
