Chudzinski Eager To Let Weeden, Campbell Compete
(5/4 12:22 PT)

The Facts:
New HC Rob Chudzinski got into some key details about players Thursday, including an update on the QB situation. Speaking on 92.3 The Fan, Chudzinski was asked point blank by co-host Dustin Fox if he expects Brandon Weeden to be the starting quarterback. Chudzinski’s long answer boiled down to “not yet,” and he continued to leave a door open to Jason Campbell. Reported by the Canton Repository

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Of last year’s No. 22 overall draft pick, Weeden, Chudzinski said: “I’m pleased with his progress. His approach has been outstanding. ...” Chudzinski said coaches are “working on (Weeden’s) mechanics and speeding up his delivery. ... Just getting to know him.” Campbell, a No. 25 overall draft pick in 2005, has been with the Browns for about a month. Asked a direct question about whether Campbell has a chance to be the starter, Chudzinski said: “We’ll just see as we go forward. I expect both of these guys to compete. I don’t know any other way.” Stay tuned. Most observers expect Weeden to get first chance at the starting job, but Campbell will get a legitimate shot.
