While nothing is etched in stone here, Scalavino covers the team on a daily basis and his reporting is based on those close to the situation. We do know that recent reports have indicated another surgery seems likely. The Boston Herald reported last month the current approach is to have Gronk delay the surgery for several more weeks to be sure the infection -- which is really the most worrisome issue -- has completely cleared out. Doctors continue to treat him with a course of antibiotics in order to achieve that objective. In case you missed it, Gronkowski has been battling an infection discovered during the process of his second surgery to repair the second break of his left forearm. Eventually, surgeons will have to go in once again to put in a new plate that's holding the bone together. The required healing time for that surgery is roughly 10 weeks, which if done soon enough would allow him to begin training camp on time. But if the infection persists and further surgery is required, all involved will begin to seriously worry. Stay tuned. We'll be following up.
