Niners Won't Rush Him, But Pleased With Marcus Lattimore's Progress
(5/11 1:31 PT)

The Facts:
Lattimore underwent an extensive medical examination Thursday at Stanford, and the 49ers liked what their team doctors saw. "Everything looks good structurally with all the guys that we drafted," HC Jim Harbaugh said Friday. "The ACL looks really good for Marcus. We have to take a step back in terms of some of the cutting because we want that inside of the knee, the lateral side of the knee, to heal fully." Reported by CSNBayArea.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Lattimore, once a potential first-round draft pick, sustained a grisly injury to his right leg in October that dislocated his knee and tore three ligaments. The 49ers selected the South Carolina running back in the fourth round with the No. 131 overall pick. The 49ers want to be cautious with Lattimore's rehab, so they are not rushing to get him on the field. He has not been cleared for any on-field work. He is expected to open training camp on the non-football injury list (because the injury did not occur while with an NFL team). The 49ers are prepared for him to sit out the 2013 season, if that's what the medical staff determines is in the best interest of Lattimore and the team.
