The Facts:
Smith, a second-round pick, spent Friday practicing at the NFL level for the first time. And he didn’t like his performance. Per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Smith said he’d give himself an F for his first practice. Isn’t that a little rough? “I want to be A+ in everything,” Smith said, explaining that he’s his own harshest critic.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Well. ... That hasn't actually been the case the last week or two, but the opening of the team's rookie mini-camp gave Smith had a chance to get away from the everything that isn’t football and focus on football -- at least until his first post-practice meeting with reporters. "I don't resent any of it. I don't pay attention to any of it," Smith said. "I just focus on what I can control, and that's being a Jet quarterback, being a great teammate and just getting better as a quarterback." Smith was asked where he believed the waves of criticism -- picking apart everything from his attitude to his desire for the game -- originated from. "I'm guessing you guys would know better than I do. I can't really say. ... I kind of get these questions a lot, and it's kind of like, 'I don't know,' " Smith said. Smith also said that he’s a “natural leader” and that he’s been “studying my butt off. ..." For what it's worth, HC Rex Ryan liked the way Smith carried himself. “You kind of listen to the huddle, all that type of stuff,” Ryan said. “Some guys can’t spit it out, [Smith] certainly can. Those are things you look at, the way he conducts himself, eyes up, all that type of stuff. ..." Stay tuned.
