Besides a persistent infection in his thrice-operated forearm, Gronkowski also is suffering from "chronic" back pain, two sources informed of his condition told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Gronk recently underwent an MRI to determine the severity of the injury and will see spine specialist Robert Watkins at some point following Monday's forearm surgery, per Rapoport. ... If all goes well, the plate will be switched, and Gronk will start out on his 10-11 week recovery phase for his forearm and squeeze in any needed work on his back (and the resulting rehab) duing that same time frame. ...
