Although the extension of the NFL's collective bargaining agreement afforded the Steelers an opportunity to prevent their free agents from leaving the fold, Randle El sounded committed Thursday to putting a new contract on hold. "I'm probably going to test the market," he said.

Randle El wasn't philosophically opposed to re-upping with the Steelers in advance of 12:01 a.m. Saturday -- the beginning of the NFL's free agency period -- "if they blew me away," he said. But according to those who follow the team closely, the Steelers have no such plans. They'd like Randle El back, but the price has to be right.
