Reggie Bush Willing To Return Punts If Need Be
(5/26 12:15 PT)

The Facts:
Bush hasn’t returned punts on a regular basis since his final season in New Orleans, but the Lions’ running back said this past week that he was ready to resume those responsibilities if his new team needed it this fall. “I’ve done it before, and I don’t mind it,” Bush said. “I can still do it if I need to and if they want me to do it.”  Reported by the Detroit Free Press

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Lions are looking for help on special teams after fielding one of the worst return units in the NFL last season, when they ranked 31st in kick-return average and 22nd in punt returns. According to Free Press staffer Dave Birkett, Bush was one of a handful of players to field punts during Wednesday’s open OTA practice. Mike Thomas, Steven Miller, Patrick Edwards and Terrance Austin also worked at the position, and HC Jim Schwartz said last month that second-year receiver Ryan Broyles, recovering from a torn ACL, could be an option there as well. Ideally, the Lions won’t use Bush as their primary punt returner. Already, he’s expected to start at running back and play a significant role in the passing game. But if they do, Bush is capable; he averaged 13.5 yards on 20 punt returns and scored three touchdowns with the Saints.
