Brad Blank, the agent for Givens, was busy working the phones within the first 40 minutes of free agency. Blank said he planned to have a free-agent agenda set for Givens by mid-morning and that he hadn't reached a deal with any club.

This is most noteworthy due to an article published on the Browns' official web site well before the signing period actually started tonight. According to that article, by ClevelandBrowns.com staffer Zac Jackson, "The Browns made an immediate splash in the free agent market Saturday by signing Givens. ..." The piece went on to suggest: "He seems to be a perfect fit for a team that made adding an experienced, reliable receiver a top off-season goal. ..."
