The Facts:
Some early rumblings emerged from Dallas, where a report on the Cowboys Web site said the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were ready to make an early move for Vinatieri's services, although the accuracy of that report was in doubt last night. Green Bay also is said to be a player for Vinatieri, with a connection coming in the front office in the form of Packers vice president Andrew Brandt, Vinatieri’s former Boston-based agent.

While Vinatieri is clearly the cream of this year's kicking crop, the Packers' interest might be twofold; there isn't a more effective all-weather kicker in the league than Vinatieri, who played his college ball in the frigid wastelands of South Dakota.
