Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
ESPN insider Adam Schefter tweeted that Peter Schaffer, Nicks' agent, said, "It's a great day to be alive" when asked if Nicks' absence was related to his contract. Nicks is entering the final year of his contract. Coughlin didn't sound like he expected Cruz to be there next week since the receiver is not under contract. Cruz has yet to sign his restricted free agent tender as he looks to work out a long-term extension with the Giants. "I think that Cruz is a different category [than Nicks]," Coughlin said. "I’d like to have him, don’t get me wrong. ..." One certainty? Eli Manning isn't happy to be working without his top targets. "They've played in big games," Manning said. "They've run these plays hundreds of times before and so they'll be able to get in the flow of things. But you'd still like them back here just to work on things that we didn't do as well last year. They know what they're doing. It's just a matter of improving how they’re doing it sometimes." It'll be interesting to see if he has Nicks back next week. ... Stay tuned.
