Alfred Morris Says He's Better, Faster, Stronger... And Smarter
(6/21 7:30 PT)

The Facts:
Last year, Morris had the element of surprise working for him early last season as a sixth-round pick who came into the year with modest expectations. He won’t get any such benefits this time around, which makes it a good thing for the Redskins that Morris feels he’s improved across the board over the player he was during his rookie season. “I’m definitely psyched to get back out there,” Morris said during an appearance on CSN Washington. “I feel better, I feel faster, I feel stronger. I’m a lot smarter, I’m a lot more confident now. So I’m looking to see how this year turns out.”  Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Morris turned in an excellent rookie season in 2012, running for 1,613 yards and 13 touchdowns to help the Redskins to the NFC East title. The question for fantasy owners heading into this season is whether he can keep that roll going. Of some concern is his failure to emerge as a viable receiving threat. But 1,600 rushing yards and 13 TDs go a long way in terms of helping us overlook that perceived shortcoming. And while some consider him a bit of a plodder, it's worth noting only C.J. Spiller, Adrian Peterson, Doug Martin and Marshawn Lynch made more tacklers miss last season. Whatever the case, we're on board with PFT staffer Josh Alper, who suggested a bigger, stronger and smarter version of the 2012 Morris is good news for the Redskins (and fantasy owners).
