The 49ers traded leading their leading receiver to Washington on Saturday for the Redskins' third-round pick this year and their fourth-round selection in 2007. Lloyd was a restricted free agent for the 49ers, who drafted him in the third round three years ago.

Lloyd caught 48 passes for 733 yards and five touchdowns last season, but alienated teammates and clashed with coaches thanks in large part to a series of memorable drops and mistakes. He also drew criticism from teammates such as Fred Beasley and Kevan Barlow for his flashy jewelry -- and his aspirations to become a rapper in his spare time. ... We suspect the Redskins' need for a compliment to Santana Moss made it easy to overlook Lloyd's weaknesses.
