Is Brandon Marshall's Hip A Concern?
(7/9 12:44 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... Marshall's arthroscopic hip surgery in January was billed as a minor cleanup that wouldn't sideline him long and then he missed nearly all on-field work in the offseason. He was on the field briefly in June but was sidelined before minicamp ended. It was in the name of caution. But it's worth wondering if this is an issue that could hamper him in training camp and the preseason. We'll soon see how his practice load is handled and if caution turns to concern. Reported by the Chicago Tribune

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
So wrote Tribune staffer Brad Biggs, who went on to note that Marshall's workload come September will be much more interesting than it is August (all indications are the star wideout's hip will be fine -- although it's certainly worth watching). But Biggs' point is well-taken. To be a dynamic offense, the Bears have to have multiple threats on a weekly basis. Alshon Jeffery, who missed time in the spring with a hamstring injury, has to be more durable and advance in his second season. Earl Bennett needs to remain healthy and meet the level of the December 2011 contract extension he received. With Martellus Bennett and Matt Forte also in the mix, it's probably going to be difficult for Marshall to match his 118-catch 2012 production. From the Bears' perspective, that's not a bad thing. From a fantasy perspective, it's something we need to take into account.
