Jonathan Stewart Progressing But Not A Lock For Training Camp
(7/11 12:35 PT)

The Facts:
HC Ron Rivera says Stewart is "progressing well" after offseason ankle surgery but he is unsure if Stewart will be ready by training camp according to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer. Reported by the Redzone.org

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As the Redzone.org points out, this is a familiar refrain for the oft-injured 26-year-old running back who had surgery on both ankles shortly after the end of the 2012 season. GM Dave Gettleman echoed the same concerns last month by saying only "time will tell." Stewart was very limited during OTAs, mainly riding the stationary bike. Fortunately the Panthers have a multitude of backs and it is likely that DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert will split reps with the first team while Stewart is out. The Panthers have long had the potential for an offensive explosion in their running game with the tandem of Stewart and Williams but that potential has rarely translated to success on the field.
