Carson Palmer and Fitzgerald were connecting Wednesday at the WR's annual summer workouts at the University of Minnesota, a sign that, at least philosophically, the Cardinals' greatest star and most important off-season acquisition are on the same page. "Look, this is a big year for me, coming off my worst season as a pro," Fitzgerald said. "I know Carson wants to play well this year. This is a huge year, and we're leaning on each other. It's simple as that. I need him as bad as anybody, and I'm going to go out there and give everything I can for him."

Palmer isn't the only one of Fitzgerald's teammates among the dozens of NFL players who have come and gone from the workouts in recent weeks either. Backup QBs Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley were here this week, along with every receiver on the Cardinals roster. Fitzgerald pays for the trainers who put players through conditioning drills. Then, there's drill work under the watchful eye of former NFL star Cris Carter and -- for the Cardinals contingent -- time to review calls and formations from new HC Bruce Arians' intricate offense. ... The payoff hopefully is increased chemistry and a firmer grasp on the team's new offense which features more formations, route adjustments and hot reads than Palmer is accustomed to using.
