Mike Wallace Looking To Bring More Than Catches To The Table
(7/16 12:7 PT)

The Facts:
Wallace, regarded as the best free agent on the market this offseason, understands his status as a fifth-year veteran, as well as a guy who signed a five-year, $60 million contract, means he has to do more. He also understands the re-tooled Dolphins are searching for leaders. "I just have to lead more, lead by example more, not just go out and think I can just play my game and that'll be all I need to do," said Wallace. Reported by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Wallace, who totaled 4,042 receiving yards and 32 touchdowns in his four seasons with the Steelers, went on to explain, "[I Pittsburgh] we had so many great leaders that I really didn't have to say too much, I really didn't have to do too much, just go out and do my job. But here, I have to do my job and motivate at the same time. ..." Sounds good. As long as he puts up the expected numbers and helps the offense stretch the field. The latter is the reason Miami targeted Wallace in free agency. HC Mike Sherman said he hopes the biggest difference in the offense this year is they total more than the 18 points per game they averaged a year ago, which ranked 27th in the 32-team NFL. "We need to score more points," Sherman said. "We can't rely on the defense, so I think we need to score more points and, hopefully, we will find our way into the end zone." According to Sun-Sentinel staffer Chris Perkins, that's not all on Wallace, but he's a big factor in that plan.
