Jennings Has Great Confidence In Christian Ponder
(7/17 12:32 PT)

The Facts:
Jennings said he has the utmost confidence in Christian Ponder, who he believes will benefit greatly now that he has joined the Vikings' receiver corps. "He's always been in a position to where the stress and the pressure was on him and he really didn't have the help around him to take that load off outside of [Adrian Peterson]. That's it," Jennings said. Reported by ESPN.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Jennings also said he expects "nothing but greatness" from the Vikings. Minnesota finished second in the NFC North last season, beating the Packers in the regular-season finale to qualify for the postseason, but lost in the playoffs to Green Bay -- with Ponder sidelined by an injured arm. Worth noting: Ponder improved in most statistical categories in his second season, hitting 62.1 percent of his passes and compiling an 81.2 rating. He rebounded from a midseason slump and probably played his best game in the regular-season finale against Green Bay, throwing three touchdown passes and posting a career-high 120.2 rating in a 37-34 win that thrust the Vikings into the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Vikings believe the departure of Percy Harvin will be offset by the addition of Greg Jennings (a much better route runner than Harvin) and talented-but-unpolished first-round draft pick Cordarrelle Patterson. Since Harvin wasn't known for his ability to go deep, the feeling among observers is his absence will allow OC Bill Musgrave to call the deep passes that Adrian Peterson-focused defenses should be vulnerable to. It remains to be seen if Ponder can capitalize.
