The New York Jets placed Holmes on the physically unable to perform list prior to the start of training camp on Friday.

Holmes has undergone two surgeries on his left foot since suffering a Lisfranc injury early last season. The move to place Holmes on PUP wasn’t unexpected as he still isn’t close to full-strength. The Jets can activate Holmes any time during the preseason if he can be medically cleared to practice. If he isn’t ready by the end of training camp and remains on the PUP list, Holmes will be ineligible to return for the first six weeks of the season.
