The Texans are expecting huge contributions this season from running back Arian Foster and safety Ed Reed. That helps to explain why each veteran has started training camp on the physically unable to perform list.

Foster is being brought along slowly as he continues his recovery from a strained calf suffered during workouts this spring. Reed is recovering from surgery in April to repair a hip issue. Of the two stars, Foster is more likely to see training camp and preseason action. Ben Tate will pick up Foster's workload in training camp. As NFL.com's Dan Hanzus suggests, don't be surprised if Tate has a bigger role on offense this season as the Texans attempt to lessen Foster's workload. The calf injury might have served as a nice reminder that Foster might not be able to withstand another season of close to 400 touches.
