Bowe worked to the side with trainers during practice for the first two days of training camp. The Chiefs said Bowe had a viral condition that was preventing him from practicing. Bowe signed a five-year contract worth $56 million with the Chiefs during the offseason. Remember: He's caught at least 70 passes and been close to or over 1,000 receiving yards in every season in which he's played but 2009, when he missed four games with a suspension, and last year, when he missed three games because of broken ribs. He produced those totals despite consistently poor quarterbacking. With Andy Reid taking over as HC and Alex Smith at QB, there's reason to believe Bowe is in position to have a strong season -- if he remains on the field.
