MRI Shows No Damage To Knee, But Ryan Williams Getting Second Opinion
(7/29 4:3 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... Williams stopped work midway through Sunday afternoon’s practice because of the knee. An MRI disclosed no damage and Williams described it as a flareup. So did coach Bruce Arians, who looked unhappy on Monday when discussing Williams’ situation. “Ryan’s going to get a second opinion,” Arians said. “We’ll see when he comes back. It just flared up. There’s no injury; the MRI’s clean.”  Reported by the Arizona Republic

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Republic staffer Kent Somers suggested, there is usually no bright side to a season-ending injury, but Williams saw one last year when he suffered a shoulder injury in Week 5. The time off would give his right knee time to finally heal. So Williams thought his knee troubles were behind him entering this training camp. Remember; it’s been nearly two years since he suffered a torn patella tendon in his right knee. So the latest issue caught the Cardinals off guard. Arians said Williams looked good in earlier practices. “I was kind of surprised it flared up.” And if you want further confirmation the coach isn't all that pleased with the development, when asked if this was a make-or-break year for Williams, Arians replied: “I would think so. ..." It should be noted that Arians' view of the situation is as important as anybody's. ... Stay tuned.
