Davis said he was recruited in Buffalo by quarterback Kelly Holcomb, his former teammate in Cleveland. Terms of his new deal are unknown. In 2005, Davis played in nine games (four starts) and totaled nine catches for 190 yards and one touchdown.

Davis is the first Patriots player to officially sign with a new team. According to Boston Globe staffer Mike Reiss, entering free agency, he was looking for a team that would provide him an opportunity to start. In Buffalo, Eric Moulds, Lee Evans and Roscoe Parrish top the depth chart at receiver, although Moulds' future is uncertain due to a high salary cap number.
