Coughlin Trying To Be Patient With Hakeem Nicks' Sore Groin
(8/1 5:25 PT)

The Facts:
Nicks began practice on the exercise bike, pedaling and catching footballs. But he never made it to the field for an individual drill or team rep. Weather forced the Giants indoors and out of full pads, and apparently forced Nicks out of practice altogether. "It's a day to day type thing," Coughlin said of Nicks' groin strain. Reported by the Newark Star-Ledger

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Coughlin said the injury hasn't worsened despite the fact that Nicks went from limited to out of practice. "I don't think so," he said. "They just want to quiet it down, make sure he heals before he goes back out and continues to maybe make it worse. ..." After two straight days of being vocal about Nicks' absence, Coughlin said he needs to curb his expectations a little. With an eye on the big picture, he knows that losing Nicks for an extended period of time is far worse. "Certainly I want to see him on the field, and he wants to be on the field," Coughlin said. "It's frustrating, but I've got to learn to control myself when it comes to that as well and just realize he's trying like heck to get out here and he knows he needs to practice and work at it. ..." Fantasy owners should appreciate Coughlin's newfound patience. No need to push Nicks the first day of August.
