Hakeem Nicks Expects To Be Back In A Day Or Two
(8/2 3:2 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... Nicks says his return to the field “won’t definitely be more than another day or two’’ but the star receiver is adamant about not rushing himself back to practice before he is ready. “I wouldn’t even categorize it as an injury,’’ Nicks said Friday. “It’s just being smart coming off of the problems I had last year with the knee and the foot. I just don’t want it to be ongoing. I’ll be out there as soon as they let me; I think in another day or two.’’ Reported by the New York Post

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Nicks after working fully the first day of camp came away with a slight groin strain that has kept him on the side for the bulk of the first week of camp. HC Tom Coughlin on Thursday admitted it is “frustrating’’ to see Nicks missing more time and receivers coach Kevin M. Gilbride stressed “I think he needs to practice. He knows it. He and I talk about it all the time and he knows it. ...’’ Nicks endured a rough 2012 season, coming off a broken right foot and then injuring his left knee in the second game of the season. He was never fully healthy and had knee surgery following the season. His desire to not rush himself back was the reason he did not attend any of the team’s organized team activity practices – irking Coughlin – as Nicks is entering the final year on his contract, making the upcoming season a huge one for him. “Coming off last season, we play it safe, play it cautious,’’ Nicks said of his strained groin. The cautious approach, while frustrating, is the wise approach.
