Sidney Rice Confirms Having Plasma Treatment
(8/3 12:6 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... Rice was back with the Seahawks Friday after spending two nights in Switzerland earlier this week having what he said was a procedure similar to Platelet-rich Plasma treatment on his knee. Rice took part in some early drills Friday but did not participate in the team’s scrimmage. Rice said he wanted the procedure because he has been having some patellar tendinitis. “Something I set up earlier in the offseason, a little bit after OTAs,” he said. “It was a long process, things I had to go through with the doctors over there. Just fortunate [HC Pete Carroll] gave me the opportunity to go over and getting it done and thankful for my teammates for not making it a big deal to leave practice.”  Reported by the Seattle Times

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
He said he wanted to calm the tendonitis “down a little bit. Been having a sore knee for quite a while now.” Rice said it will take a few weeks to tell if the procedure has helped. He said the treatment took about 20 minutes, with the tough part being the roughly 10-hour flights each way. Of the procedure, he said: “It was something I had seen a few years ago and going over with Sam Ramsden (Seattle’s director of player health and performance, he thought it was a good idea. Couldn’t do nothing but help. That’s the worst thing, so might as well give it a try and see where it goes. ..." A healthy Rice (at his current ADP of 53 among all WRs) might not be a bad value play; but he must be healthy.
