previous item. ... It's now official. Green won't travel to Atlanta to face the Falcons in the Bengals' Thursday preseason opener, the team announced Sunday.

Green hasn't practiced since he tweaked the knee in practice July 25. The Bengals are in no mood to rush him back. While some have subsequently suggested the injury is a hyperextension, HC Marvin Lewis initially called Green's injury a "knee bruise." Either way, Green should be fine for the Bengals' regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 8.
