Robert Griffin III Says He's 100 Percent... And As Fast As Ever
(8/27 11:55 PT)

The Facts:
Griffin spent the summer telling everyone how good his surgically repaired knee felt, how he'd be ready to play in the season opener and how he always thought he could be doing more. But he never claimed his knee was 100 percent, only close to it. But in a sit-down interview with ESPN980 radio in Washington, Griffin said for the first time that he felt completely recovered. "I would say I'm 100 percent, but you can't put a number on it," he said.  Reported by ESPN.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Griffin also said he remains just as fast after tearing multiple ligaments in his right knee late last season. "If I had to run a 40 today at the combine in my underwear, I feel like I could run a 4.3-something," said Griffin. The Redskins will learn this week whether Griffin will be cleared to play by Dr. James Andrews. Griffin is expected to work out for Andrews and then be examined at some point Thursday, when the Redskins play Tampa Bay in the preseason finale. Griffin said he wasn't sure whether the exam would occur before, during or after the game. After that, if cleared, it's up to the coaches to decide whether he'll play in the Sept. 9 opener versus Philadelphia (subscribers can hit our AugustUpdate Redskins page for more on this story).
