Brandon Marshall Says He'll Be Ready To Go Week 1
(8/29 12:18 PT)

The Facts:
A day after expressing frustration with his recovery from offseason arthroscopic hip surgery, Chicago Bears receiver Brandon Marshall missed practice Wednesday to attend a planned follow-up appointment on his hip, a source told ESPN.com's Michael C. Wright. The appointment was scheduled immediately after the surgery was performed, the source said. Bears coach Marc Trestman said Marshall won't be at the preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns on Thursday and will return to the team Sunday and practice Monday. Marshall said he is fine -- and later tweeted that he will play against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. Reported by ESPN.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Marshall told Wright he is just frustrated with his recovery. But a source close to the situation told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Marshall is upset that the Bears have not taken his hip concerns seriously. On Tuesday, Marshall indicated the Bears might be pushing a little harder than he'd like as Chicago attempts to prep its star wideout for the regular-season opener on Sept. 8. Meanwhile, various local media outlets remain skeptical. Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times was among those making the case for concern when it comes to Marshall. And Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune has pointed out that Marshall said on June 4 that he’s “100 percent,” and that the team is “holding me back” from doing more in offseason workouts. Marshall himself, despite declaring that he’ll play in Week 1, has told the Tribune, “My hip is not recovered the way I need it. ...” We'll continue to follow up but at this point, if you're splitting hairs between a handful of the top receivers, it's worth taking this situation into account. The less risk-tolerant might find other options more appealing.
