Brandon Marshall Says Hip Is Fine
(9/2 10:3 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... Marshall complained about where he was in his recovery from arthroscopic hip surgery last week, but the receiver was in a better place Monday when he talked about his hip after practice. The frustration that was flowing freely a week ago disappeared during Marshall’s four-day break from the team, during which he acknowledged he had a check-up. “I’m always concerned about my body,” Marshall said. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a little scratch; I’m always concerned. So coming off my third hip surgery, structurally, everything is good. The joint is in amazing shape. So that’s exciting.”  Reported by the Chicago Tribune

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Bears have maintained Marshall has been fine as he has participated in the majority of practices since training camp started and played in two exhibition games. He practiced Monday and HC Marc Trestman said he was happy with his progress. And while the Bears downplayed reports that Marshall felt team officials weren't taking his complaints about the hip seriously, clearly they did. As Chicago Tribune staffer Brad Biggs suggests, players aren’t granted four-day leaves of absence often. But if it put Marshall in a good position to follow up on the season he had a year ago — 118 receptions for 1,508 yards and 11 touchdowns — then it was time well spent for the organization. Marshall admitted last week the timing of his absence on the heels of his comments made things appear curious. He didn’t seem hung up on anything this time. “I was a little frustrated, and I’m going to be frustrated,” he said. “That’s just human nature. There’s going to be some ups and downs this season.
