Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Jets had no plans to activate Quinn for the first game, so they cut him Saturday to avoid having to guarantee his $715,000 salary. Quinn, who signed last Monday, still received a game check for the week, about $45,000. Quinn's return means the Jets have four quarterbacks again, although Mark Sanchez is out indefinitely with a shoulder injury more serious than the team is letting on. On Sunday, ESPN insider Chris Mortensen reported that Sanchez likely has a partially torn labrum in his throwing shoulder and will visit renowned orthopedist James Andrews for a second opinion. Other media outlets have reported that Sanchez has a separated shoulder. The Jets dressed two quarterbacks for the game, Geno Smith and Matt Simms, neither of whom had any NFL experience before Sunday.
