The Latest: Shane Vereen Expected To Miss Four Weeks
(9/9 7:46 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... Vereen broke his left wrist during his first snap against the Bills, will require surgery and miss at least four weeks while he recovers, according to a source. Reported by the Boston Herald

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
At a time when Tom Brady is searching for reliable targets, the loss of Vereen could be a huge blow. He had the best game of his career yesterday with 14 carries for 101 yards and seven catches for 58 yards. He amassed 31 yards on the decisive drive in the fourth quarter, too. The broken bone makes the performance even more impressive, though those style points won't exactly help the cause while he remains on the sideline. Without Vereen, Stevan Ridley should be expected to resume his role as the primary back after he was benched yesterday for a bad fumble. Ridley rushed nine times for 46 yards before taking a seat in the second quarter. LeGarrette Blount had seven carries for 15 yards in a backup role. Brandon Bolden (knee) and Leon Washington (not on injury report) were inactive yesterday.
