The Facts:
Last month, Favre's agent, Bus Cook, turned heads when he said the former All-Pro quarterback still could play in the NFL. Favre told USA Today's Lindsay Jones this week that he is, in fact, in great shape. But don't expect a comeback. "I am (in shape), but I am no way considering playing," Favre said.

While we'll take Favre at his word, it's safe to say Cook's comments weren't made on accident. In case you missed it (like we did), the crux of the agent's argument centered on the assessment that Favre is in the best shape ever. There were analogies to "blacksmith's arms" and all-too-precise weights and body fat percentages -- which suggests the comments were made with some purpose in mind. What would that be? While it appears Favre gets along just fine without playing football, we'll kindly not he sometimes seems to miss the spotlight that comes with it. So we'll grant him that a small ray of that light in hopes it forestalls him taking things a step further in an effort to garner further attention (and before you take umbrage at the mild snarkiness expressed in this post, we'll go on the record: We loved Favre the football player; not nearly as fond of Favre the drama queen). ... Now carry on.
