The toe injury sustained by Newton against the Jets on Sunday was "not that big a deal," HC Ron Rivera said Monday.
Reported by the Charlotte Observer
Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Newton injured his toe at the end of a 7-yard scramble on the Panthers' final offensive play of the first half, and was taken into the locker room before halftime to be examined. Newton did not undergo X-rays on the toe, and Rivera said it is not being characterized as "turf toe." Newton was the last Panthers' player to return to the field after halftime. But he didn't miss a snap, finishing with 273 passing yards but only 12 rushing yards on seven carries. Rivera said the injury did not affect Newton's mobility. ... We'll follow up if need be.
