The Saints had put Hartley on notice before. This time they did something about it. According to Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Saints have waived Hartley.

HC Sean Payton said Monday that they were “looking closely” at many positions, but Hartley was the first ones offered up. As PFT suggests, cutting a kicker’s a risky move this late in the season, when the available options have been picked over many times. But after rebounding once, Hartley lost his touch again, and that was something they felt they couldn’t afford heading into Sunday’s de facto NFC South title game against the Panthers.
