Rob Gronkowski's Surgery Imminent; TE Should Be Ready For Start Of 2014 Season
(12/18 1:3 PT)

The Facts:
Gronkowski has not yet had surgery to repair his right knee, though it will likely happen around the beginning of the new year. A league source confirmed to the Globe Tuesday morning that Gronkowski will have surgery in two weeks with noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews to repair the torn ACL and MCL in his right knee.  Reported by the Boston Globe

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Gronkowski needs the swelling to subside before he can have surgery, which will take place about four weeks from when the injury occurred on Dec. 8 when he was hit by Browns safety T.J. Ward after a third-quarter catch. NFL Network's Albert Breer reported on Monday that tests have shown no dislocation of the knee for Gronkowski and he should be ready for the start of the 2014 season, although as Profootballtalk.com notes, last year’s experience with surgeries and subsequent infections is a reminder that there’s a long way to go before that becomes a reality.
