Even as HC Jason Garrett was calling Romo day-to-day, ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that Romo has a herniated disc and that surgery is necessary.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting the same, indicating that surgery will "eventually" be needed. Rapoport said the Cowboys privately consider it "unlikely" Romo wil play again. All that said, we'll continue to follow up. Probably more often than you like. Steal yourself.
