The Facts:
Reports out of Washington are that Mike Shanahan
will be fired by the Redskins now that the season’s over and official news about the team’s decision looks like it will be coming on Monday. After the Redskins fell to 3-13 in a 20-6 loss to the Giants, Shanahan told reporters that he would meet with owner Dan Snyder on Monday morning to talk about his job.

Should the Redskins do the expected, they likely already have wheels in motion regarding potential replacements and the next few days will bring us a look at the leading candidates for the job in Washington. Shanahan is 24-40 through four years with the Redskins. The team made the playoffs once during that span, but lost quarterback Robert Griffin III to a knee injury during the game. As PFT's Josh Alper notes, that was one of the first dominos that led to a dismal 2013 season and an increasing feeling that Shanahan has reached the end of the line with the Redskins.
