Edinger, a free agent kicker, has had contract discussions with the Falcons on three occasions, his agent said. Edinger played with Minnesota last season after spending five years in Chicago. The Vikings signed kicker Ryan Longwell to replace Edinger. Todd Peterson, the Falcons' kicker last season, is a free agent.

Peterson is solid, but perhaps too pricey. ... Edinger has made 16 of 24 of his kicks of 50 yards or more and has made 135 of 180 of his field goals over his career. Edinger did miss 5 of 8 between 30-39 yards last season and was second in the league with nine missed field goals.
