Ryan Fitzpatrick Not Sweating Future In Tennessee
(2/20 1:4 PT)

The Facts:
Fitzpatrick is scheduled to make a relatively modest $2.75 million in base salary in 2014, along with a $500,000 roster bonus. But if the Titans found themselves in need of extra cash — or if they simply decided Fitzpatrick wasn’t part of the future — the team could save $3.25 million in cap money by cutting him. The 31-year-old Fitzpatrick said Tuesday he doesn’t spend time fretting over the possibilities. “I’ve learned not to worry about any of that stuff,” Fitzpatrick said. “It’s either going to happen or it’s not. There’s no reason to fret about it before anything happens." Reported by the Nashville Tennessean

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Tennessean staffer John Glennon notes, Fitzpatrick had his ups and downs last season while playing 11 games, starting nine. He completed 62 percent of his passes, threw for 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, and posted a passer rating of 82.0. The Harvard graduate also ran for 225 yards and three touchdowns but fumbled nine times, losing two. Assuming he returns this season, Fitzpatrick will be working under a new coach, Ken Whisenhunt, who replaced Mike Munchak. And while team CEO Tommy Smith seems to believe in Jake Locker, it's probably too early to make any definitive judgments on the team's QB situation at this point. That said, Fitzpatrick would be a sought-after backup if he hits the open market. So his lack of concern is understandable.
