The Facts:
Williams said tonight that he contacted the Dolphins earlier this week at the request of agent Leigh Steinberg, but said he has no plans to return to the team anytime soon despite numerous reports that he is coming back. While he hasn't completely ruled out a return, Williams made it clear that current state of the coaching staff and of his contract that "it's not in my best interests to play football right now."

In addition to possible -- if not likely -- sanctions for violating the league's substance abuse policy, head coach Dave Wannstedt would have to discuss the return with teammates, some of whom were critical of Williams after he quit, before any return. ... We'll continue to follow this one, but we'd advise against getting your hopes up.
